The kitchen and the bathroom are the rooms that we interact with most. Whether you are a regular user of the kitchen or not you will appreciate a well thought through layout that suits all needs. Designing your bathroom doesn’t need to be a difficult task. The size of the bathroom can however limit its ultimate layout. A shower or combined bath/shower, a vanity or a toilet only works with their minimum requirements for space. If for example we use the smallest shower the smallest vanity and the smallest toilet in a bathroom with a window, we know how big this room has to be to accommodate all of these items and still maintain a functional room.

Ultimately, when renovating a bathroom, you must be guided by the size of the room and therefore what can fit into it. When designing a bathroom for your new home, the same rule applies.  However you now have the freedom to plan the layout, and possibly a personalised theme, without the restriction of size.

The dining and living rooms are the most used areas of our homes when entertaining our guests, or taking time to relax ourselves. Coming home and being able to relax and leave work behind, isn’t that what life’s about?

Creating an appealing living room area depends on the right use of furniture. A room designed from a concept, containing custom built furniture, where everything has its place, can transform your “house” into a “home”.

Your living areas should reflect a little of yourself.  It should also be designed to accommodate the way you want to live.  Perhaps it could contain an appropriate area to drop off the items you have been carrying around all day.  Maybe a display area where you can show off some of your ‘special treasures’.  A custom designed unit to contain your home entertainment centre. The list goes on.

We humans spend 1/3 of our lives in the bedroom.  Taking this fact into consideration, we really should be giving this room more creative thought.

When is the right time to think about putting a room concept together for a kid’s room? Is it a toddler, a preschooler, a primary schooler or a teenager?

When designing a nursery, the question should be raised: for how long will this room concept be suitable for my child? As a rule of thumb: Children under 6 years of age will not necessarily require a custom designed concept.

It begins when your loved ones start attending school. You have to think about where homework will be done and how to create a room that your child loves to be in. The next challenge will arrive when your child turns 12. This is when we need to create a room suitable for your teenager. You have to rethink the bed size,

wardrobe space, study area, space for their friends to “hang out” with them, the list goes on. 

Whatever the child’s age, I will design a room with you (and your child) that will meet the needs of the child, be functional, comfortable and if appropriate, ‘very cool’.

Yes, size does matter! When designing a bar, the size of your room and the size of the parties you are going to cater for must be taken into consideration. Is it to be the classic bar design or a more modern themed design?

Everything is there: the fridge, the beautifully presented wine display, the bar sink, the dishwasher, the microwave and oven. Together we can design your entertainment/bar area to incorporate any or all of these wonderful things.

The designs are limited only by the space available and could even include an entertaining area designed to transform into a self-contained bedroom in case you want to invite a visitor to stay a little longer.
